After becoming an adult and then mother and wife I haven’t always had what I felt was enough to make ends meet. I felt I didn’t have enough money, time, knowledge, and sometimes even love for myself or to give others. Feeling like this combined with running from God because of my shame I began to hold on to everything I could. If you really needed something then I would give it but you would have to REALLY need it. I was afraid that I would run out. Tricked into believing that I didn’t have enough. I didn’t understand that this habit was hindering and even blocking some of my blessings.

I found myself at a place where the things around me were coming up short and I could barely get what we needed, let alone fulfill any wants. I concentrated on what I saw. This made me stop sowing into life. I looked up and I had such a tight grip on my life that I stopped sowing money, time, love. I stopped giving any of me. Too afraid of losing all of me. But, God gives sparingly to those who sow sparingly. God gives little to those who plant little. Which means the opposite is true too. The opposite of sparingly is liberally, amply, and unreservedly.

Think about that for just a minute. I had to come to a place where I was willing to trust God’s plans where greater for me. I had to come to a place where I knew in my heart that He promised that my needs would be met. When you get to this place and step out and cheerfully give of yourself.

Paul was talking to the church in 2 Corinthians. So that means you and me! When you cheerfully plant seeds. Give of yourself. God will give you more to be able to be a part of the ministry of giving. He will provide all that you need and more so that you are able to give to His kingdom. Don’t be tricked into thinking that whatever you have to give, whether it is a little or a lot, isn’t worth it. Don’t be scared by your circumstances or be fearful that it’s not going to come back to you. God will generously provide all you need. Not some of what you need but ALL of what you need.

So if you find yourself in a place where you feel like you need more. Give more! Give more time, money, love, patience. Give MORE and with a cheerful heart knowing that God gives seed to the farmer. He will give you even more seed to grow even more crops so you can have an even bigger harvest.

Trust God’s word! Give of yourself freely. Sow liberally, amply, and unreservedly. I am a witness if you sow unto God then you reap a beautiful harvest!

Scripture Reference: 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 NLT

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” 10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us, your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God
